One of the ways to tackle unemployment problem in Assam where the unemployment problem is acute, is to create youth entrepreneurship through which the unemployed youth are motivated and guided to set up viable enterprises and thus become job creators rather than job seekers.

The EGM in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), The Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST), launched a youth entrepreneurship development program in April 2012, fully funded by the Mission. The prime objective of the program is to wean away the youth from the pursuit of white color jobs into the risks and rewards of entrepreneurship, the focus being on disadvantaged youth.

Unlike any other program on entrepreneurship development, EGM-CII-BYST youth entrepreneurship development program addresses the issue of entrepreneurship in a holistic manner from the point of identification of the prospective entrepreneurs through awareness generation, counseling and training them, helping them in obtain various statutory licenses/permits from different authorities, getting their projects prepared by a panel of BYST mentors, facilitating through partner banks sanction and disbursement of the loans and providing handholding support for a period of two years through BYST dedicated mentors on a voluntarily basis.
